Features
Below are presented the most important features offered by SafeBit. You will agree with us that its' features make SafeBit a powerful yet easy-to-use security suite.
- Simple and efficient! SafeBit is a very easy-to-use security program. Because of its' extremely attractive and user-friendly interface you will learn how to use SafeBit in just seconds!
- SafeBit performs great on all Windows platforms, including Windows XP.
- Live Encryption: All the files and folders placed inside a safe are encrypted on-the-fly. The encryption process is fully transparent to the user, giving the look and feel of another hard drive.
- Strong Encryption: SafeBit uses the strong 256-bit AES encryption algorithm (selected by the U.S. Government as its official encryption standard). With SafeBit you can sleep without worries knowing that your files are protected at a military strength.
- Unlimited Safes (you can create several virtual disk drives to fit your needs).
- Size of safe is limited only by the file-system you use:
- Using Windows 2000 or XP / NTFS file system: practically unlimited.
- Using Windows 98, Me, 2000 or XP / FAT32 file system: up to 4 GB per safe.
- Note: For best performance we recommend to use smaller containers.
- Container's Security: SafeBit provides protection against accidental or intentional deletion of Container Files (the files that store the image of your encrypted drive).
- Note: To benefit of this protection system your container file must reside in the default Safes folder
- Perfect Windows Integration
- Extremely fast
- Backup / Restore your safes in seconds.
- Note: Your Safe is secured from intruders BUT your hard-disk can suffer physical damage (from external incidental factors), that's why we strongly suggest to make regular backups of your safes. If your original safe is destroyed by any chance, with SafeBit you can easily restore it from the backup.
- Automatic Closure System: if there is no activity with a safe ( no program works with files from that disk ). SafeBit automatically closes the safe after a specific amount of time (you can choose this amount from the Options page). By default a safe is closed if it is idle for more than 15 minutes (can be adjusted in Options window), and also if the system goes in StandBy or Hibernation.
- Stealth Mode running: you can hide Safe Bit and run it in Stealth Mode so no one could know that you are using it. You can take advantage of this feature by making a few settings in Options window. Running this program in Stealth Mode is possible using Hot-Keys and passwords.
- Hot-Keys: running the program in Stealth Mode or not, you can use Hot-Keys to easy open the Safes List or to close all open safes. This provides a greater flexibility in using SafeBit.
- Functions available trough the Tray Icon. If you are not working in an extremely hostile environment, and you can afford to show a tray icon of SafeBit, the use of the program is greatly simplified. The most common features are available from the tray menu.
