Search Useless Files
Unnecessary files are useless files that are stored in your computer taking up precious disk space. Various temporary files are created either by applications or Windows. These include log files with outdated reports about the activities of system utilities.
To search for unnecessary files, check the Find useless files item on the Scanning Conditions tab of the Disk Cleanup window and specify where to search - either disks that should be searched for files on the Drives tab, or separate folders on the Single folders tab.
The file search is based on useless files wildcards. A fairly large list of these can be viewed and edited by using the Click to organize the useless files wildcards link. Here you can see the file masks that are useless to the system. It makes sense to delete all files that match these masks in order to free space on disks.
You can begin the process of searching for unnecessary files by clicking the Scan Disk(s) button on the toolbar.
Searching for files may take quite a long time, especially on large disks with a lot of files, so be patient and wait until the search is complete. You can see an estimate of the time remaining on the progress bar at the bottom of the window.
After the search is complete, a list of files which are recommended for removal will be displayed in the Results tab.
We recommend that you carefully look through this list of files to ensure that they do not contains any necessary for your work. If you think it contains such files, just clear the checkboxes by those items so the program will not process them. It is also important to exclude such files from future searches for useless files. Go to the Useless Files Wildcards section of the settings where you may add, remove, or mofidy the useless files masks.
To delete useless files, click the Process Selected button, and Reg Organizer will remove useless files from the disk. Note that this process may also take a while. |
