Registry Export and Import
Export to a File
To export a registry key to a file, switch to the registry editing mode, select the necessary key in the tree and use the Export ... to a File... command on the File submenu of the Main menu. You can also click the Export button on the toolbar when in registry editing mode. To the right of this button is an arrow you can use to drop down a menu of commands that allow you to export the key to a file in various ways:
- Export the Selected Key: This is the normal way to export a key. The key, all its subkeys, and their values (both in the key and in its subkeys) are saved to the file.
- Export the Selected Key without Subkeys: Only the selected key and its values will be exported to the file. Neither subkeys nor their values will be exported.
Import from a File
To import data from a file to the registry, use the Import Data from a Registry File… command on the File submenu of the Main menu. You can also use the Import toolbar button.
Export the Entire Registry
To export the entire system registry to a file, select the Export the Entire Registry… command on the File submenu of the Main menu. Use the new dialog box to specify the name of the file the registry will be saved to. |
