Fix Invalid Shortcuts
To enable this option, check the Find and fix invalid shortcuts item on the Scanning Conditions tab. Reg Organizer will analyze all shortcuts stored on the specified disks or in the specified folders, depending on the options specified in the Drives or folders to scan group. The program analyzes the validity of references used by shortcuts to point to programs and documents.
To start the search process, click the Scan Disk(s) button on the toolbar.
Be patient, since searching for invalid shortcuts may take a long time!
After the search is over, the results (a list of all invalid shortcuts found by the program) will appear on the Results tab. The result table consists of several columns showing information about the name of the shortcut file, its size, location on the disk, and also the description of the problem and how Reg Organizer recommends fixing it.
The program tries to find the new location of the file that each invalid shortcut points to. When the search is finished, the program recommends that you either delete the shortcut or fix the invalid reference. The latter is possible if Reg Organizer finds the file the shortcut points to. You can find the action recommended by the program for each of the invalid shortcuts in the Action column on the Results tab. |
