Layouts
The image layout defines how your images are laid out on the page. You can use a manual layout or one of the varieties of automatic layout. These layouts make it easy for you to arrange pictures with a consistent, professional layout on your pages.
There are four different layouts available:
- Manual Layout
- Auto layout (for example '4 per page')
- Thumbnail Layout
- Borderless Layout
Manual Layouts Versus Auto Layouts
You can choose from two types of layouts on multi-image pages in Pics Print:
- Manual Layouts - Move images on a page yourself, using the Manual Layout tool. You can resize images as you require.,
- Auto Layouts - Use an automatically defined template that arranges your images for you automatically.
- If you are creating pages with many images, Auto Layouts are easier to use. They ensure that all your images are arranged evenly on a page, and that the page is compatible with your printer. Both size and position are automatically set. You can not resize images. However, you can reorder and rotate them.
- You can also your own layouts and save them as Auto Layouts. See Creating Auto Layouts.
- To see layouts, select a layout using the Auto Layout option on the View menu will make the layout visible (this requires that Simplified Interface is unchecked).
Images will be placed in the numbered rectangles, starting with rectangle 1.

Manual Layouts
Manual layout gives you complete control over the size and placement of images. New images and text boxes are placed at the bottom of the first page with sufficient free space.
Images can be freely moved and resized.
Choosing a layout changes all pages in your document to use that layout.
Instructions
- Set page layout to Manual by: Selecting Manual Layout from the Page menu, OR selecting Manual-
from the toolbar.
- Add images or text boxes to the page.
- Move and resize the items until they are in the layout you want.
- Save the page document.
Auto Layouts
Auto Layouts ensure that all your images are arranged evenly on a page, and that the page is compatible with your printer. Both the image size and position are automatically set. You can not resize images. However, you can reorder and rotate them. You can add borders and text to images as well. Choosing a layout changes all pages in your document to use that layout.
Instructions
- Set page layout to Auto by: Selecting Auto Layout from the Page menu, and choosing the layout you want, OR selecting Automatic Layout from the toolbar.
- Insert your images into the page. They will be automatically arranged. NOTE: You can add text to images on an auto layout page. However, the text placement is based on the auto layout spacing.
Save the page document.
Automatic by Size Layouts
Automatic layout by size will arrange your images based on image size. The size of each image can be individually altered by choosing the Size option from the toolbar or right click menu. Images can not be freely moved, but can be reordered by dragging and dropping.
New images will be placed in the first page that has sufficient free space. Adding, deleting, moving or resizing an item will result in the layout being reshuffled. |
