GetRight

GetRight Pro allows you to upload files to a server in addition to downloading files from a server. Most of the settings for uploads are set on the Server Synchronizer since logins, etc are specific for each server. You can choose so that GetRight Pro will prompt you to confirm when it adds uploads.

Scripts

GetRight Pro supports a powerful scripting language. This scripting allows a wide variety of advanced downloading, uploading, scheduling, and other functions to be performed.

On the scripts configuration page in GetRight Pro, you can choose to enable scripting. For security, all scripting features are off by default.

This Scripting help assumes you have some knowledge of programming languages. GetRight's language is pretty simple and commands are in pretty plain English. There are some examples of common tasks at the bottom of this page.

When scripts are enabled, a new menu will be included in GetRight Pro's tray icon menu to allow you to run scripts.

Web Access

GetRight Pro can run as a simple web server, which allows you to view and control the download list on your computer from anywhere in the world. You can view your download list, pausing and resuming items, and can even add new downloads. (Start that new game demo downloading to your home computer while you're at work...even view the progress as it's downloading.) This does require that you are able to connect in to your computer from the "outside". Your should visit the Web Access page for the most current information and help.

The Username and Password are highly recommended. This keeps so just you can add/view downloads on your computer.

The Port is part of the address where GetRight will be listening. Tt is the number you would add after the server name (if you have one or use the Dynamic DNS) or the numeric address.

The Title is just the text that is displayed at the top of the webpage you view. It can be set to whatever you like.

As Proxy

GetRight Pro can act as a Proxy server. This allows another program to download through GetRight. The other program will get the benefit of GetRight's ability to resume downloads, dial a modem, etc. If errors occur, GetRight Pro can resume the download, etc., with the other program not even being aware that there had been a problem.

This feature is designed to help other programs that do auto-updating or download data (such as a virus scanner that gets virus updates.) You normally should not use this as a proxy for your web browser.

When GetRight and the other program are running on the same computer, the server IP address to use in the other program is 127.0.0.1 (or you can use localhost, but that doesn't seem to be defined on all computers, while 127.0.0.1 will work every time.) On the As Proxy configuration page in GetRight, you can set the port for GetRight Pro to use for the proxy server, normally it is 2088. You will need this port number when setting up the proxy server settings in the other program.

You can open the GetRight Proxy window by right clicking on the GetRight Pro tray icon, then in the Tools menu, pick the GetRight Proxy item. The actual IP address and port used will be shown in the window title. You may need it if GetRight is running on one computer and the other program is running on another. A log of the addresses will be shown in a box in the window. You may check the "Show full headers" checkbox to show the complete transfer information.

Client/Server

GetRight Pro can operate in a Client-Server mode. If you have several computers you use, but want only one of them to do the downloading, this is the feature for you!

When you click a link on computer B, it is sent to computer A so it is added to A's download list. The only setup is on the Client/Server configuration page in GetRight Pro. You must tell if the computer is a client or the server. You may also set a name if you desire (useful if more than one person in an office uses this same feature.)

The computers will need to be connected on the same local network, such as your house or likely within a single building in an office.

You may turn the Client/Server settings On or Off, as well as setting if the computer is a Client or the Server.

The sharing group allows you to have several sets of computers on the same network that are in different GetRight Client/Server groups. So computers 1, 2, and 3 could use 1 as the server; while 4, 5, and 6 used 6 as the server.
