Download Status

Enter New URL

• Select "Enter New URL" in the GetRight Tray Icon menu (see GetRight Tray Icon Menu) or from the File menu on the GetRight Download Status window.
• Type in the address or press Ctrl-V to paste the URL text you copied the text into the clipboard. (If the clipboard text begins with http:// or ftp:// it is automatically pasted for you.)
• Click OK
• GetRight will prompt you where to save the file.
• GetRight will then get the file. The download window should look similar to the window used in your web browser when downloading.

Schedule Download Start

[Available from the Download Status window, under the "Downloads" menu]

• Do not do scheduled downloads: Cancel scheduled downloads if you have enabled them.
• "Today" only: Download at the scheduled time "today." Today is defined as the next 24 hours--so if it is 8 in the evening (PM), and you say to download at 2 in the morning (AM), then GetRight will start downloading at 2AM the next day--6 hours from the time you scheduled.
• Download at this time on selected days: This is for a re-occurring scheduled download. Pick the days of the week when GetRight should download. When the computer is turned on, GetRight will start downloading at the set time on the set days. (And will turn on the options as set up below when the scheduled time arrives.)

The following checkboxes correspond to buttons on the Download Status window.

• If these items are checked, they will press the buttons on the Download Status window both when this form is exited, and when GetRight starts a scheduled download on a day because the Download at this time on selected days option is enabled. This is so you can set up GetRight to download on specific days and always redial, hangup, or shut down your computer when it is scheduled on those days.
• Redial modem if disconnected: With this option enabled, GetRight will automatically redial and resume downloading without you having to do anything. GetRight will use the options set up on the Internet configuration tab for redialing. NOTE: This option is only available if you are using Windows Dial-Up Networking (see Configuring-Internet)
• Hang up modem when done: After starting to download at the set time, GetRight will hang up your modem when ALL files have finished. NOTE: This option is available if you are using either Windows Dial-Up Networking, or Other Networking Software (see Configuring-Internet)
• Turn off computer when done: When all the files have been downloaded GetRight will turn off your computer.
  • NOTE1: If your computer does not support automatic shut down, then this will exit Windows.
  • NOTE2: If you turn this on, it is a good idea to close any other programs that are running. This is so the computer doesn't sit waiting for you to answer prompts about "Save changes to XXX?" in other programs.

Schedule Download Stop/Hang Up

GetRight has several options about scheduling GetRight to stop downloading and hang up your modem. Any downloads in progress will be stopped when GetRight hangs up.

This would be useful if your phone rate changes at some time in the morning and you want GetRight to stop downloading before the rate increases. For example, when combined with the scheduled dialing, you could set GetRight to start downloading at 1:00 AM and then stop at 7:00 AM.

NOTE: If you are set to be "Always connected to the Internet..." (see Internet Configuration tab) then GetRight will just stop all downloads at the set time, if you are set to any of the other items on the Internet Configuration tab, then GetRight will also try to hang up the modem. If you are always connected, some items here (like "Hang up by a number of minutes after GetRight dials modem" will not be available.)

NOTE2: GetRight does not actually have to be downloading anything for it to hang up your phone at a specific time.

NOTE3: If the "Turn Off Computer When Done" toolbar button is pressed on the Download Status, then at the scheduled time, GetRight will both hang up the modem and turn off the computer.

• Stop (hang up) at a specific time: A set of boxes will let you select a time to hang up your modem. You may also set up to always stop or hang up your modem at this time.
• Hang up by a number of minutes after GetRight dials modem: You can schedule GetRight to hang up your modem some time after it has dialed. You may also set up so GetRight will redial and continue downloading after it has hung up, and so GetRight will always hang up this amount of time after dialing (it will hangup if you use the regular GetRight Dialer instead of scheduled dialing too.)
  • Example: A good use for this, unlike in the US, many places in the world pay for all phone calls--even local calls. I've been told that some telephone system now gives the first 19 minutes of a local call free--so you could schedule GetRight to hang up after 17 minutes of downloading and then dial again and continue to avoid charges.

{I don't know how well the phone company would like people doing this, but it is possible to do now.}

TIP: Give less than the max to take into accout the time needed to make the connection and for GetRight's prompting to verify hanging up.

NOTE: This option works only if GetRight is doing your Internet dialing!

• Stop (hang up) by a number of minutes from Now: Pretty self explanatory. GetRight will stop or hang up in the number of minutes from the time you click the OK button.
• Delay stopping (hanging up) if any files being downloaded can not be resumed later: Some servers do not support the resuming features in GetRight--with these, if GetRight stops or hangs up, it will have to restart at the beginning. This delays until any files in progress that can't be resumed are done.
