BitTorrent
BitTorrent Network
For BitTorrent downloads, it is better if your computer can be listening for other peers trying to download the same files you are downloading. (The default settings should be used unless you know what you are changing.)
You should pick the Use GetRight for Port Forwarding, then try the Test button. If it doesn't work then try the Use Windows for Port Forwarding and test that too.
BitTorrent Sharing
For BitTorrent downloads, you will be sharing data with other people downloading the same file. It is more friendly for other users if you leave the window open and keep sharing when you have finished a file, helping them finish too.
You can set so GetRight will upload at a maximum rate, or have it base the upload rate on a portion of the total speed.
BitTorrent Connections
For BitTorrent downloads, you will be sharing data with other people downloading the same file. People who you share with will allow you to download from them.
You can control how many active uploads and downloads each Torrent will have. Unless you really know what you're changing, you should leave these settings alone.
BitTorrent DHT Network
The DHT Network is for sharing contact information, so people downloading the same file can discover each other.
It is like the Six Degrees of Separation idea, where if you go from a friend to a friend's friend to a friend's friend's friend, within six friend jumps, you can have a connection between any two people on Earth. (Or even more fun is Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, doing the same with actors in films.)
The DHT Network lets computers do that. Your computer would have a small number of friends ("peers"), and when it needs to find the people downloading the same Torrentâ„¢ file you are, it would start with its peers (friends), who would direct you peers that are closer to what you want, and those would direct you ever-closer to the one you want. After repeating the process a few times, you'll find the peer with the information you need.
