Working with Software
ReportCD helps you to manage your software collection. To Display the software collection, select the view software (menu Views | software). By selecting a software in the list, you can see its properties in the bottom panel.
Add a new software in the collection
You have two differents manners to add a software in the collection:
- Add a software from a disk image that is already scanned: You can add a software which is stored in a disk image. This is useful when you want to link your software with your disk information. In the Catalog view, select a file, a folder or a disk on which you want to perform the action. Then right-click and select Add as... | software and the software dialog opens (you can see that the path field & the title field are already filled). Fill all the other fields and click on Save to save the document.
- Add a software without link to a disk image: Select the view software and click on the menu Database | Add... | software. The software dialog opens. Fill all the fields and click on Save to save the document.
Update a software
- If you want to update a software, select the software in the Tree window or in the List window, rigth-click and select Modify. The software dialog opens and you change the properties of the software. Click on Save to save the changes.
Search for software
To search for software, select the view Software (menu View | Software) and click on Search. The search window opens with the tab Software selected.
You can specify differents criteria and combine them :
- Title
- Version
- Style
- Year
- Language
- Licence
- Contains a picture or not
When the search is done, you will see the list of the software found. You can modify their properties and locate the files in the catalog.
Export software collection
ReportCD can export software in 2 formats :
- ASCII : to export the software collection in a text file, with a tabular separator for columns.
- XML : To export the software collection in a XML file, with an optional link with a stylesheet file (that can modified).
To export the software collection, first select the view software and then click on menu File | Export and select the format to use. |
