Managing others collections

In addition to disk images management, ReportCD helps you to manage any kind of collections : movies, software, MP3s, games. You can also manage other kind of collections, defined by the user in ReportCD (such as books, stamps,...). The data are then classified by type of collections.

Managing other kind of collections

In the Collections view, you can manage your collections whose type is different than movie, MP3, software and game. This is the user who define its collection type (such as book, stamps,...). Data collection are then grouped in the Collections view by the collection's type.

• Add new item
  To add a new item in a collection (whose type already exists or not), go to the Collections view, then click on the button Add new item. The properties window is opening, and several fields can be filled. One of the main field is the Type field which is used to define in what kind of collection will be saved the new item. You can select an existing type, or define a new one if you want to add the item in a new collection. When the document is saved, the Collections view will automatically display the new item (and will display also all items of the collection's type) Note : For the predefined collection's type Book or Comics, ReportCD can download from Internet field content (such as author, cover, publisher, synopsis,...). For that, when selecting the type Book or Comics, the Web Update section appears and can be used to download fields from web sites.
• Update an item
  To modify properties of an existing item, select the document in the Collections view, then click on Update in the contextual menu. The properties window will open. Click on the button Save to update document.

Download books content

ReportCD can download the content of a book from Internet, from several web sites. So, you can fill the main fields of the book properties window !

In the properties window, go to the section Web Update. Fill the field Search for, select web sites from where to perform the search, then click on the button Search to start book search.

When research is finished, click on a book title in the search result list, in order to preview the book properties in the section Preview.

To automatically fill properties window fields (which will be saved in the database), select fields to update, then click on the button Update fields from selection : fields values will be replaced by the downloaded values.
