Select Original HTML File...
Select this menu option to specify the file to be displayed in the left window pane. The file is selected by using the standard Windows File Open dialog. This file should be older than the revised file.
Select Revised HTML File...
Select this menu option to specify the file to be displayed in the right window pane. The file is selected by using the standard Windows File Open dialog. This file should be newer than the original file.
Compare the Files
Select this menu option to compare file one and file two. If the files differ, the differences are displayed in the left and right panes on the main HTML Match window.
Edit Original HTML File
Select this menu option to edit the original HTML file in your HTML editor. If you have not yet specified an editor preference, the file will be loaded into Notepad. You can inform HTML Match of your HTML editor by selecting "Associated HTML Editor..." from the Options Menu.
Edit Revised HTML File
Select this menu option to edit the revised HTML file in your HTML editor. If you have not yet specified an editor preference, the file will be loaded into Notepad. You can inform HTML Match of your HTML editor by selecting "Associated HTML Editor..." from the Options Menu.
Show First Difference/Show Last Difference
Show Next Difference/Show Previous Difference
These options allow you to navigate to the first/last/next /previous differing sections within the two files. If no more differences exist in the direction specified, you will be notified.
Find/Find Next/Find Previous
The two files can be searched for the existence of a string of text. A case-insensitive search will be performed on both files beginning at the current line and proceeding to the end of the files. Use the Find Next/Previous options to search for more matches.
If a match is found, you will be positioned at the line containing the text. If a match is not found, HTML Match will notify you.
Remember that the search is performed from the current line to the end of the file. A match may exist in a previous line. To search the entire files, click on the first line of one of the files before beginning your search.
Toggle Bookmark/Next Bookmark/Previous Bookmark/Clear All Bookmarks
Use Bookmarks to mark certain portions in a file that you wish to return to quickly. A nearly limitless number of Bookmarks can be set in this window. Dbl-clicking on a line will position a bookmark in the margin of a line. If a bookmark already exists on this line, the bookmark will be removed. The Toggle Bookmark toolbar and menu options will achieve the same thing. Use the Next/Previous Bookmark options to navigate thru the bookmarks which have been set. To remove all bookmarks, use the Clear All Bookmarks option.
Print
Prints the comparison results of the two files. When the comparison results are shown in two windows, additional Print Options are available.
Exit
Closes the HTML Match application.
