Assign Permission

You must assign permissions to users or the groups they belong to, otherwise these users have no permission to access library in NetPhotoManager Server.

There are two kinds of permissions: permission to manage NetPhotoManager Server and permission to access library. If you have permission to manage NetPhotoManager Server, you can add users, add groups, assign permissions in NetPhotoManager Server by using NetPhotoManager Console; If you have permission to access library, you can browse, read or write library resource in NetPhotoManager Server by using NetPhotoManager Client. The default user, Administrator, has all the permissions.

This section explains how to assign permissions to users or user groups.

To assign permission to manage NetPhotoManager Server:

• Select Manage permission/Manage item in Function tree window. All the users or groups that have permission to manage are listed in manager list, as following figure:

You can see that the default user Administrator is already a manager.

• Right click manager list and select Add manager in context menu as following figure:

The Select member dialog appears.

• Select groups or users you want to add in the upper list and press Add button, or double click the group or user to add, as following figure:

Press OK button in the Select member dialog. Now you can see new manager appears in manager list as following figure:

To assign permission to access library:

• Select Manage permission/Library access item in Function tree window, then click "My server" in library folder tree as following figure:

You can see that default user Administrator has permission to access the whole library in My Server.

• Now we assign permission to user "test". Right click in permission list and select Add in shortcut menu.

• Select a user in Select member dialog and press Add button. Then press OK button.

Now user "test" is in permission list. Default access permission is to browse only.

Double click user "test" in permission list, assign all permissions in Permission dialog as following figure:

• Now we have assigned permission to access library to a user "test". This user account can be used to login in NetPhotoManager Client to access library in NetPhotoManager Server.
