Schedule Transfer

You can run ConcordFTP in Silent mode for unattended, script-driven transfers using its own built-in scheduler. It offers many automation features, such as auto downloading only newer files, daily backup of your folders, or uploading or downloading files whenever they have been updated. It comes with a host of supporting tools to help you manage your scheduled FTP transfers.

Schedule a Transfer

There are several ways to schedule a transfer:

  • To schedule a Mirror transfer, use the Transfer > Manual Transfer > Mirror Wizard menu and check off Schedule to run in background
  • Select a Queue item in the FTP Queue panel of Work window, and use the Queue > Schedule Selected
  • Select a Queue item in the FTP Queue panel of Work window, and use the Queue > Properties menu and check off Schedule to run the background
  • Right click on the Queue item in the FTP Queue panel of Work window, and use the Schedule Selected menu
  • Right click on the Queue item FTP Queue panel of Work window, and use Properties and check off Schedule to run the background
  • On the Schedule Page, you can set the date and time, and frequency of transfer. You may also set an ending date to unconditionally stop the transfer. Once you have scheduled it, your scheduled transfer is ready for operation.

Remove Schedule from a Queue Item

The scheduled item in the FTP queue has an icon as Scheduled Item. There are several ways to remove a schedule from a transfer:

  • Select the Queue item in the FTP Queue panel of Work window, and use the Queue > Remove Schedule Selected menu.
  • Select the Queue item in the FTP Queue panel of Work window. Use the Queue > Properties menu, uncheck Schedule to run in background.
  • Right click on the Queue item in the FTP Queue panel of Work window, use Remove Schedule Selected in the pop-up menu.
  • Right click on the Queue item in the FTP Queue of Work window, and use Properties in the pop-up menu and uncheck Schedule to run in background.

Monitor Scheduled Transfer

All scheduled transfers are done in background. To monitor them, you can send email notification, check transfer log, check transfer session log, or check schedule log.

  • To send email notification, check off Send Email Notification in Mirror Wizard in the Transfer > Manual Transfer > Mirror Wizard menu or Transfer Wizard in the Queue > Properties menu. You can enter email To, From, CC, Subject and Message for successful transfer or failed transfer.
  • To know what have been transferred you can check the Transfer Log in Work window. It contains transferred file names with time stamp. In order to know any connection control messages received and sent, you can check off Save Transfer Session log in the Tools > Default Options menu, on the Transfer > Log page before running scheduled tasks. After running the tasks, you can use the Tools > Transfer Session Log menu to view the log. The Transfer Session log file can be very large in file size, you may want to turn it on only when you need it for diagnostic purposes.
  • To check the activities of the scheduler, you can use the Tools > User Schedule Log menu to view the scheduler activities and the Tools > System Schedule Log menu to view the system scheduler activities.

Schedule Log

The Schedule Log is intended for advanced users to check the status of the scheduler. To view the Schedule log, select the Tools > Schedule Log menu. There are also the Clear and Save As buttons in the dialog. You have the option to save the log for archive purpose before clearing it. The Clear function is a password protected function.

Transfer without Logging On

Check off Schedule to run in system session in the Queue > Properties menu or on the Schedule Page of the Transfer > Manual Transfer > Mirror Wizard menu if you want to run a scheduled task without having to logon to Windows. There is only one system session scheduler per computer. Each Windows User Account has its own scheduler. However, all user accounts share one system session scheduler.
