Connection
ConcordFTP provides connection functions that allow you to concurrently connect to multiple FTP servers on demand or automatically via its own scheduler. It offers both Implicit and Explicit SSL secure connections and non-secure connection.
Connect
Click to select the account from the Account Panel in FTP Browser. Then, use the File > Connect menu or click on the Connect icon on the Navigationbar to connect to the server. If the Account Panel is not displayed, the default account (if set in Account Manager > Account Tab) or the first account on the Account List in Account Manager will be used to connect to the server. If the Account Panel is displayed but no account has been selected, the default account (if it is specified) will be used for the connection.
Connect To SSL/TSL
Use the File > Account Manager menu or click the Account Manager icon on the Navigationbar to open the Account Manager dialog. Select the account from the Account List and click the Site tab. In addition to the FTP (non-secure) protocol, you have the following choices for secure protocols:
- Implicit SSL/TLS (FTPS) - FTP over SSL with implicit encryption used to connect through SSL capable servers, secure channel gets established before logon.
- Explicit SSL/TLS (FTPES) - FTP over SSL with explicit encryption used to connect through SSL secured servers, secure channel gets established upon connection.
Accept Server SSL Certificate
In the Account Manager menu, Site tab, select Explicit SSL/TLS. When connecting to a server with SSL, if the server has a certificate, it will be displayed. Click on Accept to proceed. If you check off the Always trust this certificate option, you will not be asked to accept or reject the certificate again. Otherwise when you try to connect later, you will be asked again to accept the certificate. For scheduled transfers, you have to accept the certificate by first checking off the Always trust this certificate option before you can schedule the transfers. Without doing so, scheduled transfers will fail when attempting to connect to the server.
Disconnect
Use the File > Disconnect menu or click on the Disconnect icon on the Navigationbar to disconnect the session displayed in the Browse Session tab from the FTP server. This disconnection will not affect other transfer sessions. Alternatively, you can right click on a connected account in the Account Panel in FTP Browser and select Disconnect from the right click menu to disconnect it from the server.
Concurrent Multiple Connections
In the Tools > Default Options menu, Connection page, you can specify the Maximum number of concurrent connections per site. One of connections is used for browse. The download, upload, or FTP commands occur over the browsing session. The mirror or queue transfer starts its own connection when it is allowed.
Staying Connected
You can keep the connection open even when you are inactive during Browse Session by checking off the Enable Keep Alive option in the Tools> Default Options menu, Connection > Keep Alive page. The Transfer Session will be terminated whenever it completes the transfer.
Monitor Connections
In ConcordFTP Work window, the Browse Session and Transfer Session tabs give you detail connection information.
Connect at Startup
Check off the Open previous account option in the Tools > Default Options menu, General page to connect to the previous site during startup.
Close All Connections of Selected Account
In browse session, the connection will stay on until the server times out. If the Keep Alive option is on, it will stay on longer. Use Disconnect to terminate the browse session connection.
In transfer session, the Stop icon stops the transfer and terminates the connection. Also, the connection will be terminated when transfer is done.
Usually there are multiple connections per account. If any connection of the selected account is on, browse or transfer, the icon will indicate so. To close all connections of the selected account, use the File > Close All Connections of Selected Account menu.
