Account Manager
ConcordFTP provides comprehensive sets of account management functions. It lets you create and limit account privileges. It also lets you password protect account information and priviledge settings to guard against unauthorized access and editing. You can use Account Manager to view and edit account settings. The actual account settings are saved in the Account Profile file (.fsi), which can also be password protected to guard against unauthorized access.
- Backup Account Profile - You can create a backup copy of Account Profile by using the File > Backup Account Profile menu for archive or transfer purpose.
- Load Account Profile - You can import an Account Profile from a saved copy by using the File > Load Account Profile menu.
- The ConcordFTP Account Manager is where you can set up user accounts, access to FTP sites, and account privileges. You can access the Account Manager using the File > Account Manager menu or click on the Account Manager icon on the Navigationbar. Access to the Account Manager can be password protected in the Tools > Default Options menu, General > Password page. Depending on the password protection option you have chosen to protect its access, you may be asked to enter the password before you can access this menu item. You have the options to view all the account information in tab view or in list view at a glance. Click on the toggle List View button to see accounts in list view, and click it again will bring you back to Tab View.
Account List: When in Tab view, all FTP accounts that you have created in Account Manager are listed in the left panel. Click on an entry to see or change its details. Double click on an entry will connect to the FTP site for that account.
Account Information
Name - This field is for entering the name of an account. You can set up each account with its name and restrictions from uploading, downloading, or sending FTP Commands by checking off the desired restrictions. You can also hide selected user accounts from the context menu.
No Upload permission - When checked off, the user is not allowed to upload to the selected FTP site.
No Download permission - When checked off, the user is not allowed to download to the selected site.
No FTP Command permission - When checked off, the user is not allowed to send FTP commands to the site.
No Windows context menu - When checked off, the selected site will not appear in the Windows context menu.
Default account - You can set up this account as the Default Account. If there is no account selected, this account will be used when you click on the Connect icon, or the File > Connect menu.
Comments - you can enter comments for this account.
Proxy Tab: The Proxy tab allows you to configure all the necessary options if a firewall is present.
Socks Tab: ConcordFTP supports SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 based proxy servers. Setting up the proxy server is very similar to what takes in setting up the firewall settings.
Transfer Tab
- Number of retries specifies how many times the connection or transfer attempts will repeat.
- Delay option will pause the specified number of seconds before trying to connect again.
- Timeout option will stop the connection or transfer after the specified seconds.
- You can select from Binary mode, ASCII mode, or Auto Detect Extension. When you transfer files using Auto Detect Extension, all files will be transferred in Binary mode except those file types (extensions) selected by you, which will be transferred in ASCII mode. Select items from the list box and click on Add, or type in extensions separated by semicolon.
Folders Tab: The Folder tab allows you to view or edit the local and FTP server folders on initial connection.
- FTP folder - This is the folder of the FTP site you will be connecting to.
- Local folder - This is the local folder you wish to automatically associate with when connecting to the specified FTP server.
Filters Tab: The Filter tab helps decrease the number of files that you will be able to see. This is helpful if you wish to set up specific FTP connections procedures to only view images, or HTML files, etc.
- Search pattern - To find files by name, enter the entire file name (including file extension) or partial name with wildcard symbols in the Search pattern field. Wildcards are useful if you do not fully know the exact name of the file, or cannot remember its file extension, but know partial name. Wildcards are also useful in finding multiple files pertaining to the same subject. For example, if you are looking for files pertaining to a project and they are listed like "project1.doc", "project1.jpg", "project_data.xls", "final_project.pps", you can enter *project* to get all files that have "project" in the filename. You can also use only the single character wildcard, i.e. "?" instead of "*", to perform your search.
- Accept extension - By entering an extension in the Accept extension field, you can perform searches that are only of those extensions. For example, entering jpg will search for all files ending with the jpg extension. If you want to search for multiple extensions, you can separate them with semicolons, e.g. "jpg;png;bmp", with no space.
- Reject extension - By entering extensions into the Reject extension field, you can filter out particular extension(s). Rejecting more than one extension requires using the semicolon separator, with no space.
