Scan Scheduler

The scan Scheduler enables you to schedule multiple automatic scans on a pre-selected schedule, and to set the priority of each scan. If you reinstall STOPzilla after having set up scans, STOPzilla will keep your settings as the default scans unless you make changes to the schedule. If you do not set up scans, the factory set default is to run a full scan on Thursday nights at 8 P.M.

To schedule a scan of your system:

1. From the navigation bar, select SCHEDULER. The system displays the Scan Scheduler. The Scan Scheduler displays all scans you have configured, and enables you to add additional scans, make changes (edit) existing scans, or remove scans. You can also click CHECK FOR UPDATES in the lower right corner of the Scan Scheduler to get STOPzilla updates at any time.
2. If a scan has not yet run, a green check mark is displayed to the right of the description of the scheduled scan. If your computer was not on during the time of a scheduled scan, a yellow exclamation point is displayed to the right of the description.
3. To add a new scan, click Add. The Scan Scheduler dialog is displayed. Select a scan type. Options are Quick Scan, Intelligent Scan, and Full Scan. For details on the types of scans and their functions, please see: Types of Scans.

1. Use the Priority drop-down list to indicate the amount of your computer's processing power you wish to allot to the scan. Options are High, Normal, and Low. If you select High, the scan will go fastest, but will use up a lot of your processing power. If you are using other applications while the scan is in progress, these applications will run more slowly. It is recommended that you set the scan for High if you have scheduled scans during times when you are not using your computer. If you wish to scan while running multiple applications, it is recommended that you select Low. For typical use, the default setting of Normal is a good balance between scan speed and use of computer resources.
2. Select the schedule on which this scan shall be performed. Use the control buttons to select either Daily or Weekly.
3. Use the drop-down lists to select a day of the week and time on which the scan shall be performed.
4. Choose a name for this scan that will be recognizable to you. Click OK. Or click Cancel to revert to previous settings.
5. To create additional scans, repeat this process. It is recommended to do a Full scan weekly, and a Quick scan or Intelligent scan daily.
