Disable Protection
You have the option of turning off or disabling some or all of the protection offered by STOPzilla by clicking the ON/OFF buttons that appear on STOPzilla Home under Basic Options. You can disable some or all of the protection indefinitely, until the next restart, or for specific durations of time.
- Disabling protection is NEVER recommended.
- Disabling Real-Time Spyware Protection leaves your computer vulnerable to infection by malicious software applications, and prevents STOPzilla from blocking some unsolicited pop-up windows.
- Disabling Advanced Pop-up Protection allows all unsolicited pop-up windows to be displayed.
- Disabling SITEguard Protection leaves you vulnerable to ID theft, personal data loss, Phishing attacks, and other types of online fraud.
- If you are sure you want to disable any or all aspects of protection for some length of time, click the ON/OFF button to OFF. Also, you can disable protection by right-clicking the STOPzilla systray icon and unchecking the aspect you wish to disable. You can access icons in the STOPzilla toolbar to disable specific aspects of protection. Alternatively, you can use the STOPzilla icon and STOPzilla toolbar to enable any aspect of protection.
- An alert message will appear to warn you of the consequences of disabling the protection. It also offers options for the duration of disabling the protection. By clicking the drop-down menu, you can select when to automatically re-enable the protection from the following choices:
- 5, 10, 30, or 60 minutes
- At computer restart
- Do not re-enable (disable indefinitely)
Selecting one of the options will disable the protection for the selected duration and will cause the button to change to OFF. When the select duration expires, the protection will resume and the button will change back to ON.
