Diagnostic Scan
A Diagnostic Scan is performed under the direction of a STOPzilla Customer Support technician when there is reason to believe that there is a malicious program on your computer that STOPzilla is not blocking.
The purpose of the Diagnostic Scan is twofold:
A Diagnostic Scan enables STOPzilla Research to see all software running on your system, isolate unknown Spyware, and develop target definitions to detect and block it.
Information captured from users' scans is incorporated into the Research database. Once STOPzilla researchers target a new piece of Spyware, it is included in the next update of the product. This way, no STOPzilla subscribers ever need to be bothered by it. The more scan results STOPzilla incorporates, the better we can serve our subscribers.
This procedure is to be performed only under the direction of a STOPzilla Customer Support technician.
To launch a Diagnostic Scan:
- From the navigation bar, select Tools. Click Start Diagnostic Scan.

- The system displays the STOPzilla Diagnostic Scanner dialog, a running indicator of which files it is scanning.

- When the scan is completed, the Save button becomes enabled. Click Save to save the diagnostic log to a local disk, click Upload to deliver the diagnostic log to STOPzilla research, or click Close to cancel the process.

- The system prompts you to save the file. Choose an area of your computer, and rename the file if you so choose. Do not change the default file type. It must be saved as a STOPzilla Scan File. Click Save. to send this file as an e-mail attachment to STOPzilla Research, or you can click Upload to deliver the scan directly to STOPzilla research. Both methods require prior STOPzilla Customer Support contact and authorization.
