URL Patterns

This section allows you to manage a list of "URL patterns" AdvertisingCleaner should watch out for. If this option is enabled, whenever a new window is trying to load content from an URL that contains in its name a pattern in this list, AdvertisingCleaner will automatically close the window.

A list of common patterns is delivered with the product and will be loaded by default. You can however edit this list to suit your needs by adding new entries or editing/removing existing ones.

Adding new entries to the list:

Simply enter a pattern in the Mask field and press the Add button to save it in your list. You can use the star symbol (*) as a wild character. For example, entering 'banner*' will determine AdvertisingCleaner to block any page that contains in its URL strings like 'banner/', 'banners/', 'banner/image1', 'banners/image1' and so on.

Editing/Removing entries

Select one of the entries by clicking it. You should see its value in the WebSite URL field. You can now either edit it and click Change to save it or just click Delete to permanently remove it from the list.

Temporarily un-blocking an entry

Tick the checkbox next to an entry to disable the blocking of URL matching the pattern, but you don't want to remove it from the list for good, you can temporarily disable...

Enabling/Disabling URL Pattern Blocking

To toggle URL Pattern Blocking on/off:

• Check/uncheck the URL Pattern Blocking checkbox in this window.
• You can alternatively right-click on AdvertisingCleaner's traybar icon (in the bottom-right of your screen, next to the system clock) and check/uncheck the URL Pattern Blocking option.
• AdServer Blocking can also be enabled/disabled by pressing a hot-key (this will enable/disable all AdvertisingCleaner's blocking activity).
